On Human Compassion

In most cases, God cannot physically touch us. But we can be the touch of God to those around us who need that healing touch.
There are times when words don’t work, they just don’t help. At those times, silence is all there is. But reaching out your hand, touching a person’s shoulder, arm or hand is often the communication and consolation that is just right for the moment.
A healing touch can work wonders to a hurting person. Science has shown that it is not only the good will of those giving or recieving the touch, but there is a biological, measurable response on the part of the recipient. This is why a mother’s kiss on a child’s bump or scrape is so soothing. The body responds to person to person contact in a healing way.
If you are short on words, but long on compassion, reach out and give a healing touch. It can be God’s touch in someone’s life.
